Description of Services: Works to prevent and reduce adverse health outcomes resulting from exposure to infectious diseases

Services include:
  • public education and awareness about infectious diseases, and infection prevention and control practices
  • surveillance and early detection of cases and outbreaks of infectious diseases
  • investigation and control of infectious diseases in institutions and the community (sporadic cases and outbreaks) and advice to institutions and professionals
  • inspection of facilities such as child care centres, long-term care homes, retirement homes, personal services settings (e.g. aesthetics, hair, and tattoo salons)
  • pandemic response (COVID-19)
