Description of Services: Offers services and support to cancer patients
  • Operates as a satellite program of the Northwestern Ontario Regional Cancer Care Centre in Thunder Bay
  • Serves as an outpatient program on a full-time basis
  • Offers services through a physician, nurse practitioner, registered nurses, a pharmacist, pharmacy technicians and a supportive care worker
  • Provides follow-up care through regular telehealth sessions and visiting Oncologist
  • Provides a free 2-hour workshop called Still Me which assists people living with cancer to look good and improve their self-image
Provides the following cancer care:
  • Assessments
  • Chemotherapy treatments
  • Community education
  • Follow-up
  • Central line care
  • Supportive care
  • Teaching
Additional services provided to the Oncology Unit through the Canadian Cancer Society include:
  • Volunteer and peer support
  • Patient information
  • Financial assistance
